About Jasmine is derived from the Persian word Yasmin. A semi erect evergreen flowering shrub. Flowers are fragrant, numerous, in the form of sprays on pendulous branch in winter, spring & summer.

Origin Native to India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and the Andaman Islands.
Soil For outdoor planting – well drained, sandy loam soil iis most suitable.
Pruning Pruning of Jasmine to be done in the early monsoon to encourage the flowering. Pruning also helps to maintain the height & shape of the plant.
Light For outdoor planting in hot bright sunlight in outdoor condition.

Can be grown as potted outdoor / garden plant; place the plant under direct sunlight for few hours in morning.

NOTE: If the plant does not get enough sunlight, there will be a distinct lack of flowers, though equally too much sun can cause the flowers to wilt and drop. Having a good balance by allowing both some direct sunlight and partial shade. So a little trial may be required.
Irrigation Jasmine likes to have continuously moist medium but not water logged condition. So watering should be regular but in a regulated manner.

For tap water, preserve the water 24 hrs to minimise the presence of salts, chlorine, fluoride etc.
